Alan Hines wrote the novel Square Dance (HarperCollins) and the screenplay adaptation. Square Dance (Island Pictures) premiered at the Sundance Film Festival as did the film of his screenplay for Save Me. Other screenplay credits include Guilt by Association, Ambulance Girl, (earning Kathy Bates an Emmy nomination) and The Interrogation of Michael Crowe, which received a Peabody Award. He is also the author of Miles From Home: Evacuees in Timberscombe During the Second World War. He has been awarded the Yukio Mishma Award for Short Fiction and the D.H. Lawrence Fellowship for the novel Square Dance. Hines has taught writing at Drexel University and Kutztown University of Pennsylvania.
